Weinhaus ltd. – based south of Kecskemét, int he village of Bócsa – was established in 1994 after the privatisation of the former Kiskőrös State Farm. The present owners took over the company in 2001 and it has been working under the new ownership and management since that time.
In the spring of 1935, while preparing the soil for a new plantation int he fields of Bócsa, exquisite treasures were found at the grave of an Avar prince. Golden jewelled belt ornaments, a sword, golden and silver drinking vessels – the golden goblet of the prince among the as well – came into light form the grave. The findings, originating from the early Avar-age, have been among the most appreciated treasures of the Hungarian National Museum ever since. According to legends, the prince could have drunk wine from his goblet which has been chosen for the symbol of the company.
